To offer a friendly couple, I painted these cups with very Portuguese motifs based on the designs of a cotton fabric - "Chita" - that is produced in the center of Portugal, in the city of Alcobaça.

"Chita" é um tecido de algodão estampado, originário da Índia, trazido para a Europa pelos Portugueses no século XV.A denominada Chita de Alcobaça caracteriza-se pelo recurso a padrões estereotipados muito coloridos de influência Indo-Europeia que se ilustram com riscas largas de decoração variada e barras de cor.
Esta tradição do tecido estampado de Alcobaça permanece ainda nos dias de hoje
"Chita" is a printed cotton cloth, originating in India, brought to Europe by the Portuguese in the XV century. The Chita de Alcobaça is characterized by the use of very colorful stereotyped patterns of Indo-European influence that are illustrated with wide stripes of varied decoration and bars of côr.
This tradition of the printed fabric of Alcobaça still remains in the present day.
